Tips

• Built in 1898, Chautauqua is charmingly historic and also a tad outdated
• There are no TVs in the rooms
• You can walk a mile to downtown, but it will be all uphill on the return
• Walk to the Hill, a popular place for University of Colorado students
• Hike to the Royal Arch with your pup, a natural stone arch with unparalleled views of the city
• Try the Flagstaff House for dinner, famous for serving local food in a creative way

Location

There is no better location for hiking than the cottages at Chautauqua. Walk to 40-miles of trails, directly out your back door. In addition, drive to Eldora Mountain Resort within 40 minutes for downhill and cross-country skiing.

• Within walking distance: the on-site restaurant, Community House, and a popular trailhead
• Transportation: A car is recommended to get to the resort. You can take the city bus to the resort, but it is a mile walk with ski gear to the nearest stop.
